We finally had a nice weekend and took full advantage by going hiking! We picked some easy kid friendly hiking, since Kyla would have to be walking the whole way! I also made her a scavenger hunt so that she would have something to do while hiking!
Starting out Kyla was very eager and ready--but by the end of the second hike she was pretty tired out! We went on a 1 mile hike, drove to a different area, had lunch and then went on another 1 mile hike.
We took the tripod so that we could get some family pictures.
We were hoping to see more wild flowers but most of them are not in bloom yet. But we were able to see some Lanceleaf Chiming Bells (above) and some Star Lilies (below). We also saw some others but either the pictures turned out blurry or they weren't in our flower book so we don't know what they are.
I was able to get this one picture of a butterfly--most were too busy flying to stop for a picture. We saw a really pretty blue one. And we got to see the snow covered mountains.
Overall, we had a really good day. The only bad part was during the second hike when AJ decided to wander off the path, then preceded to fall on a prickly pear cactus. Luckily, he had pants on so most of the prickers went into the pants---and he's young enough that we just took them off, put him in the backpack carrier and got him a new pair when we got to the van! He still got some prickers in his leg and I got some in my hand. I'm just glad that it wasn't Kyla because she would have been in hysterics, we couldn't have taken her pants off, and we didn't have an extra pair in the van! But AJ handles injuries much better than Kyla ever has!
