Our Fishes

We decided to get some fish.  We had a 10 gallon aquarium from when we lived in Albuquerque, but decided to get a 30 gallon because the bigger the tank the easier to take care of them.  In Albuquerque we kept having problems with the fish getting sick.  We ended finding one used for a good price and still had all our plants so we set it up last weekend.  Today we went out and got 3 platies-- we are hoping that it's one boy and 2 girls.

Kyla decided to name the fish Alex, Eva, and Kyla.  Although she said Kyla is spelt different than her name so I'll have to ask her what the spelling is.

This is Alex--the black and white with orange tail--and Eva--the orange with the black tail.

And this all orange one is Kyla.  Kyla was the only one that didn't go and hide when we first transferred them into the tank.  Alex took a while before he would come out and swim.

When we had platies in Albuquerque, they ended up having babies.  We didn't know as much about them when we had them in before so we did not know that they didn't lay eggs, they have live babies.  We went on vacation and came home to little fish swimming around.  Unfortunately the big fish will eat the babies.  So we are hoping there are enough hiding places and one day we will have little fish!
