4th of July

On the 3rd the library had a parade for the kids to be in. We took Kyla and her friend Faith. They had fun decorating their scooters, making crafts, and getting stars and stripes painted in their hair. They then rode in a parade around the parking lot.

AJ was really grumpy that day and didn't want to do any of it. He was content to just sit in his stroller. When I took a picture of him, he didn't even want me to do that. He was pointing at Kyla and saying "cheese" which translates to take a picture of her not me.

On the 4th of July we did some smoke bombs and some other stuff at our house during the day, then after AJs nap we headed up to Adam's brother, Brent's. We had a nice dinner--although it rained so we had to eat indoors. Adam's parents were there as well as some friends of Brent's. The kids were all anxious for it to get dark enough to do fireworks. We've never done them with Kyla so she was pretty excited, but also getting tired. We decided to go ahead and let them do some while it was still light out.

Kyla wasn't impressed with the sparklers---the ones we got wouldn't stay lit and since it was so light out they weren't as neat.

AJ was very impressed with them at first.

But quickly got tired and was just wanting to go to bed.

Here are the best pictures that I got of the fireworks. It was hard to get the camera to focus correctly but I was glad that I got a couple good ones.
